Volunteer

Make an Impact

Volunteering is one of the best ways to contribute to the overall well-being of our region. You have the chance to learn new skills, make friends, and, most importantly, to share your experience and your willingness to help with those who need it the most.

Volunteering is open to any individual or group who are willing to roll up their sleeves to help make the Southeastern Pennsylvania a better place for everyone to live. To become involved, go to Volunteer Way, or call 215-665-2474.

Just select this Volunteer Way link, and you'll be on your way. Best of all, by registering with VolunteerWay you can have volunteer email alerts sent to you, and save any opportunities you select so you can view them later.

2. How do I know if volunteering is right for me?
To volunteer all you need is some free time and a willingness to help. Our experience has been the vast majority of people who are drawn to volunteering enjoy it immensely. The best part is, we can easily work around your schedule and your preferences to ensure you are involved with something you will enjoy.

3. What does volunteering really do?
In a word, everything. Without volunteers, United Way and many of its partners and agencies simply could not exist. From community leaders who serve on our board to the thousands of men and women who pitch in and help throughout the city, volunteering makes the difference between hopelessness and hope.

4. What kinds of volunteering are there?
There are literally hundreds of ways to volunteer. VolunteerWay.org, our online method of volunteering, will ask you specific questions about the kind of work you would like to do, the groups you would like most to work with, and other questions. This ensures that you are linked up with an activity that is very close to what you are most comfortable doing. You can also opt for a one-time volunteering or ongoing volunteering, whichever one works best for you.

5. What if I'm asked to do something I would rather not do?
You will never be asked to do something you don't want to do. With hundreds of places where concerned, intelligent volunteers are needed, there are always ample opportunities to connect you with something that suits your particular tastes and skills.
