Target’s “Share-a-Tree” Program Brings Holiday Cheer to Local Families
This Holiday Season,
nine local Target stores will donate
21 fully decorated Christmas trees to agencies
throughout the region as a part of Target ’s national “Share-a-Tree” program.
Now in its 18th consecutive year, nearly 1,700 participating Target Stores are donating more than 5,000 trees nationwide.
“Target has a long-standing commitment of giving to the communities we serve,” said Laysha Ward, president, community relations, Target. “In today’s economy, the Christmas season creates an added challenge for families who are struggling to meet their basic needs. Through our ongoing partnership with United Way and the ‘Share-a-Tree’ program, we’re honored to donate Christmas trees to these families and help them continue their holiday traditions. ”
Nationally, Target and its team members pledged more than $13 million in the 2008 campaign and gave more than $12 million in the 2007 campaign.
Yellowbook
Yellowbook joined the LIVE UNITED movement as they kicked-off their 2008 United Way campaign in the parking lot of their new building in King of Prussia. Nearly 1000 employees attended the event to hear United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, President and CEO, Jill Michal and speakers from Family Care Solutions talk about how United Way is advancing the common good throughout the region.
In this, their second campaign, Yellowbook raised an impressive amount of nearly $121,000. Yellowbook also participated in Days of Caring for the first time with 50 employees volunteering for their community. Campaign Co-chairs, John Wholey and Maria Mitchell are to be commended for running such a successful campaign.
